2,400 years of elemental thought
The four-element framework didn't appear from nowhere. Here's the lineage behind the Cuatro System.
Plato, 360 BCE
The Four Elements
Plato's "Timaeus" codified Earth, Water, Air, and Fire as the fundamental building blocks of matter and psyche alike. This became the bedrock of Western esoteric tradition.
Renaissance Alchemists
Elements in Practice
Paracelsus and the alchemical tradition mapped the four elements to human temperaments (melancholic, phlegmatic, sanguine, choleric), providing a psychological layer that Tarot would inherit.
Carl Jung, 1921
Four Psychological Functions
In "Psychological Types", Jung described Thinking, Feeling, Sensation, and Intuition — four modes of cognition that map directly onto the four Tarot suits.
CuatroTaro, 2024
The Cuatro System
We formalized the elemental cross-reading into a systematic methodology: every card is interpreted through all four elemental lenses simultaneously, producing 312 unique reading angles from 78 cards.
Elements across the Zodiac
The same four elements underpin astrology — the Cuatro System bridges all three divination systems.
