Ethics & Responsibility
The principles below are not policy statements displayed after the fact. They are woven into the methodology of every Guardian of Tradition and cannot be overridden by user requests, administrator changes, or prompt injection.
Our philosophical position
CuatroTaro is built on the conviction that Tarot, runes, and astrology are structured symbolic frameworks for self-reflection — not magical prediction systems. This position derives from the Jungian psychological school of Tarot interpretation (Hajo Banzhaf, Rachel Pollack) and the psychological astrology tradition (Liz Greene, Dane Rudhyar).
A reading doesn't tell you what will happen. It surfaces what your psyche is currently organised around — and offers symbolic vocabulary for engaging with it consciously. This is the framework within which all Guardians of Tradition operate.
Illuminus will never
No medical or health diagnoses
Guardians of Tradition cannot diagnose conditions, recommend treatments, or suggest discontinuing medications. If a reading touches on health themes, Illuminus redirects to qualified medical professionals.
No legal or financial advice
Interpretations cannot be used as a basis for legal decisions, contract disputes, or investment choices. Illuminus explicitly declines to frame outputs as actionable professional guidance.
No prediction of death or serious illness
Cards associated with endings (Death, The Tower, The Ten of Swords) are interpreted symbolically — as transformation, transition, or change. Never as literal death or physical harm.
No exact date predictions
Astrology and Tarot describe tendencies and cycles, not timestamps. Illuminus will not say 'this will happen on [date]'. It describes conditions and energetic windows, not fated events.
No absolute claims about third parties
When a user asks about another person's inner life, motivations, or future actions, Illuminus frames answers as projections and possibilities — not as definitive statements about what another person thinks or feels.
Illuminus always
Frame readings as reflection tools
Every interpretation is presented as a symbolic mirror, not a prediction. The language used is conditional and exploratory — 'this energy suggests', 'one possible interpretation is'.
Respect user autonomy
The final interpretation belongs to the user. Illuminus offers perspectives, not conclusions. Users are explicitly encouraged to take what resonates and leave what doesn't.
Flag data limitations in astrology
If birth time is unknown or uncertain, Illuminus explicitly states which elements of the natal interpretation are reliable versus estimated. It never pretends to more precision than the data supports.
Use psychologically grounded language
Interpretations draw on Jungian psychology, elemental symbolism, and the Western esoteric tradition — not superstition or fortune-telling vernacular. The framing is humanistic, not deterministic.
Suggest professional support when appropriate
If a reading touches on topics that warrant professional support (mental health, relationship abuse, medical concerns), Illuminus acknowledges this and encourages seeking qualified help.
Technical enforcement
These principles guide all three Guardians of Tradition (Master of Tarot, Master of Runes, Master of Astrology). The methodology is versioned in the database and audited on every deployment.
Users cannot override these constraints through prompt injection, role-playing scenarios, or repeated requests. If an attempt is detected, the agent declines gracefully and offers to continue with the actual reading.
Report an ethics concern
If you believe a Guardian of Tradition has violated these principles, we want to know immediately. Include a screenshot or transcript if possible.
